Gustave Sennelier: close to the Artists

It all began in Paris. Gustave Sennelier realized his dream by buying a small store on the Quai Voltaire and became a color manufacturer and merchant. At the time, he was selling pigments, in cones or bricks. Over time, Sennelier became known for the quality of his products and benefited from the location of his store, near the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. The inventor of Helios red was fortunate enough to attract many unusual customers: Sisley, Van Gogh, Gauguin... these great masters of painting frequented Gustave Sennelier's store and made it known.

It was in Gustave Sennelier's workshop that the range of pastels created especially for Edgard Degas was developed. The Artist asked for ochres to work his compositions. Sennelier is close to the Artists: the bridge between tradition and innovation.

G. Sennelier's watercolors

In order to stand out from his competitors, Gustave Sennelier decided to create an artistic watercolor paint that offers an unparalleled luminosity. He then made a binder from a beautiful gum arabic, both clear and glazed, and, guided by his genius, added some creamy honey. The result is fabulous: a watercolor with vivid and luminous colors, in a durable way. Honey is an ingredient of unctuousness and incomparable luminosity. In addition to these pleasant qualities, it allows the colors of your works to remain vivid for a long time, thanks to its preservatives. Even your tubes and cups ofSennelier watercolor paint will be resistant over time.
